Healthy Hair 101

Healthy hair is not as hard to achieve as most people may think. With a little TLC and a bit more effort, any mop head of hair can be turned into the most appealing and appropriate hair in town. Most people think that healthy hair is difficult to achieve and not worth it, how wrong! Healthy hair can be achieved with a few minor adjustments to your hair care routine and as seen earlier, some effort.

Straightening, blow drying, curling, or otherwise heat-taming your hair can be very damaging. You are essentially burning your hair, which is not a good thing when trying to achieve healthy. However, since most people are not willing to part with their hair taming activities, it is important to do it in a safe way.

For instance, if you're going to torture your hair day after day with a flat iron, at least provide some protection. Most hair care product brands such as Suave, Pantene, and Chi do provide products that can help with achieving healthy hair. One of these products is a heat protestant product, which comes in the form of a spray or serum. This product should be applied liberally before flat ironing, curling or blow drying your hair. If you are using any type of heat to style, this product is important in keeping your hair protected.

Breakage is another problem with most hairstyles. It is important to use a wide toothed comb and work your way up from the bottom when styling your hair, or combing your hair. When you try brushing from the top, every knot you rip through on the way down causes breakage which can be very damaging to a journey of achieving healthy hair. Also make sure to leave your conditioner in for at least 60 seconds to three minutes, this assures deep conditioning and helps to pave the way for silky hair.

Keep in mind when tending to your hair, that shampooing strips away most of the natural oils your scalp produces, and this is just no good. Due to this problem, shampooing should be limited to once every other day for the best results. Over shampooing could ruin once healthy hair.

To maintain healthy hair, deep conditioning should be done with a special deep conditioner that can be found in the hair section of your local beauty supply store should be done once every three weeks to a month. This keeps your hair looking and feeling soft and silky.

By following these simple changes in your routine, you can build your way to healthy and beautiful hair. Also be sure to listen to your stylist's instructions, as they know what's best for each hair type.
